PAS Celebrates Health and Wellness with Recreational Drumming Week

Recreational Drumming: Celebrating Health and Wellness is a week long celebration of the health benefits of recreational drumming. From October 13-17 PAS percussion facilitators around the world will host events that will highlight the benefits of recreational drumming through educational hands-on activities. Twenty three drumming events are scheduled to be held at schools, support centers, children’s hospitals, town halls and senior centers.

PAS Announces Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund Recipients

Steve Campbell and Lindsay Rust, of Dancing Drum Rhythm & Art Center in Santa Barbara, CA, are the recipient’s of this year’s Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund. Dancing Drum provides a forum for people of all ages to participate in the universal language of rhythm through drumming, dancing, geographical and multi-cultural education, and performance. The program embraces the power of the drum for positive personal transformation and community-building. Since 2002, Campbell and Rust have worked with over 50,00 people from California to the Midwest through interactive performances, school residency programs, drum workshops, mask-making workshops, and classes and special events.

PASIC 2009 Artist Applications Now Available

The Percussive Arts Society is now accepting online applications for PASIC 2009 sessions. PASIC will be held in downtown Indianapolis, IN November 11-14 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Artist applications will be available online through December 15, 2008.

PAS Seeks Spring 2009 Internship Applicants

The Percussive Arts Society is seeking applicants for a six-month internship program beginning in January 2009 in Indianapolis, IN. All percussion students who wish to gain music industry experience and promote career goals are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to candidates whose applications are received on or before Monday, October 13.
