Committee Report and PASIC 2007 Meeting Minutes

PASIC 2007 featured a number of workshops by the PAS Health and Wellness Committee. The traditional panel discussion on injury prevention between the audience and the experts took place. Additionally, we had our annual free hearing tests supervised by doctoral students and technicians. The committee continues to receive many positive comments about these tests. Committee members Brian Mason and Terri Haley continued their series of workshops on avoiding the pitfalls of injury while playing marching instruments. The clinic “Tell Me Where It Hurts” by Dr. Workman was well received and as always, a line remained after the clinic to ask more questions.
We continued sponsoring a morning fun run/walk at PASIC 2007. The Thursday morning annual committee meeting included several new visitors with an interest in health and wellness. Our committee members are dedicated to the improvement of the health and wellness of all percussionists and are involved in publications and presentations to further this endeavor.
